How Coronavirus is affecting your life?

We are inviting participants from the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD) to join a COVID-19 sub-study

What is the purpose of this study?

The coronavirus outbreak has led to big and sudden changes in how we live our day-to-day lives. It is a serious and unprecedented event. It will have a lasting impact on many people’s lives, and on our economy and society. We are interested in understanding how the outbreak affects the lives of our study members and will provide vital evidence on how the lives of people affected can be improved.

Combination of the information given in previous surveys, with answers from this online survey will greatly improve our understanding of the impact of the outbreak. We will also be able to combine this information with future data collection waves to look at longer-term impacts.

What does the study involve?

The study will involve completing a short questionnaire (online or postal) about health, family and social life. It should take about 20-30 minutes. There will then be further questionnaires at regular intervals throughout the outbreak to see what changes have occurred.

Answering the questionnaire is voluntary. Questions can be skipped over if you cannot answer or would prefer not to answer.

Who will be invited?

We will be recruiting existing active NSHD study member, for whom we have addresses for. The study team are sending out invitation letters to all study members who are eligible to take part.

If you are an NSHD study member and have not received an email invitation and would like to take part, please get in touch with the study team.

We have set up two frequently answered question (FAQ) pages for our study members.

Alternatively, you can contact the study team by calling us on 0800 952 0249 or 0207 670 5700 or email us at
